SOCIO-ECOLOGICAL VULNERABILITY TOOL

Adapting Mediterranean Marine protected areas to climate change
ASSESSING VULNERABILITY
With this climate vulnerability assessment tool you will be able to understand how Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean Sea are impacted by climate change. We look at Sea Surface Temperature increase and Marine Heat Waves under future climate change scenarios. You will be able to browse through the ecological and socio-ecological vulnerability of your MPA, and find the indicators that contribute the most.
Constructing the index
Climate vulnerability in your MPA depends on the exposure to climate change, on the sensitivity to Sea Surface Temperature increase and Marine Heat Waves, and the adaptive capacity to cope with these impacts.
The vulnerability assessment will give you information on:
This is a beta-version of the vulnerability tool from the MPA-Engage project to be used by partners. November 2020.
