Welcome Silvia Rayo to FOL team

Silvia will be working as a research assistant in ongoing projects dealing with climate adaptation in the Mediterranean Sea

09/05/2024 -

Silvia will contribute to two European projects. One of them is CAMBioMed, which aims to develop an adaptive monitoring framework involving stakeholders from both biodiversity and socio-ecological systems. The other project is MPA4Change, that builds upon the achievements of MPA-Engage and aims to test the tools developed within that project. Specifically, applying the Vulnerability Assessment Tool to assess newly designated Marine Protected Areas.

She will bring to the above-mentioned projects her experience and knowledge gained during her master’s thesis involvement in the MSP4BIO project with the University of Cadiz and the University of the Azores, where she worked on identifying impacts from maritime sectors on ecosystems and assessing how ecosystem services are affected by them. Additionally, she played a key role in identifying important stakeholders and engaging them to collaborate and participate in decision-making through workshops.

On her free time, you can find her surfing, diving, or hiking with her wheelchair assisted dog Jake. She cannot live without dogs, flowers, ice-cream, and the ocean.
