Last week, on the 24th and 25th of March, Francesca Barazzetta and Juan Bueno Pardo hosted a follow up to the first webinar series organized in the framework of the MPA-Engage project. The two webinars focused on the development and implementation Social-Ecological Vulnerability Assessment in Marine Protected Area focusing in the Mediterranean Sea. The two session represented the first section of the webinar titled “Assessing climate change vulnerability in Mediterranean MPAs” that will be followed by a second session focusing on the monitoring activities developed in the project. The course had the aim to teach how to gather the information to develop the basis to implement a climate change adaptation and mitigation action plan.
The webinar was held online on YouTube and an average 50 people coming from 18 countries attended during both days. The webinars provide information about the methodology applied in the assessment and the selection of indicators, their measurement and combination to calculate the final vulnerability Index. Finally, the vulnerability assessment tool developed in the project was presented to the participants.
After these webinars, we develop a practical Vulnerability Workshop in Croatia with MPAs managers in April. We are looking forward to seeing all of you in person!
