FOL attends the ICES Annual Conference 2021
FOL member Iratxe is attending the ICES Annual Science Conference that is being held online from 6 to 10 September. ICES is an intergovernmental marine science organization, a network of scientists who advance and share scientific knowledge of marine ecosystems and their services in order to generate advice for meeting conservation, management, and sustainability goals. ICES work focuses on the Atlantic Ocean, but also extends into the Arctic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, and the North Pacific Ocean.
Every year, ICES organizes its Annual Scientific Conference where hundreds of participants meet to present and discuss the latest marine science, promote new ideas, and establish partnerships. This year, FOL Iratxe submitted a presentation about adaptation actions in a large-scale tuna fishery. Her contribution was in the theme session about connecting economic, social science, and interdisciplinary research and management advice. A thrilling session where key challenges and promising avenues for incorporating economic and social dimensions in ICES advice were discussed.
