Second ICYMARE forum edition

Xochitl Elias co-hosts the ICYMARE online forum on social-ecological research

12/01/2021 -

After the successful session held on the past 26th and 27th of August in the first online edition of the ICYMARE conference, Xochitl and the Ph.D. student Michael Kriegl are hosting the second online forum edition focused on social-ecological systems and interdisciplinarity on January 13th at 10 am CET.

In the forum, five highly talented Early Career Researchers (ECRs) (based in Belgium, Germany, and New Zealand) will be presenting their experience using the social-ecological approach when investigating coastal systems. Following the presentations, both hosts aim to discuss the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary research through a panel discussion including the presenters and two more invited ‘senior’ scientists. Sustainability science and practices are increasingly applying a social-ecological lens to tackle the conservation and development challenges of the 21st century and as a novel scientific discipline, social-ecological research is prominently shaped and promoted by a generation of ECRs. Therefore, it is of high importance to discuss the limits and struggles of interdisciplinarity when aiming at conducting policy-relevant research. If you wish to participate in the online forum you can register here for free before and during the event.

We look forward to seeing you!
