Mitigation and adaptation strategies to tackle Climate Change
Last Friday, at the end of Workshop “Catedra Naturgy“, IPCC author Íñigo Losada from IH Cantabria (Spain) gave a speech at University of Vigo about the new report on the ocean and cryosphere in a changing climate (SROCC) that the IPCC just launched last week. UVigo proffessor Xavier Labandeira, autor of the sixth assessment report of the IPCC with Elena Ojea, introduced the event. During the talk, Íñigo highlighted that climate change induced hazards like sea level rise and ocean warming are happening twice as fast as previously thought, urging to take mitigation and adaptation strategies that help us cope with this threat.
The event concluded with a round table with Galician climate change researcher Elena Ojea (FOL) and Moncho Gonez Gesteira (Ephyslab), coordinated by Juan Añel (Ephyslab). It was fascinating to see so many people concerned about the future getting involved in the discussion. The change is already happening!
