Alexandre Alonso Fernández and Jaime Otero Villar present at the Interdisciplinary Fisheries Seminar Series next week
Next Tuesday, May 8, at 1pm, Alexandre Alonso Fernández and Jaime Otero Villar will be presenting the latest results of their collaboration with the regional government (Xunta de Galicia) at the Interdisciplinary Fisheries Seminar Series (IFS). IFS is the seminar series at the University of Vigo presented by Campus do Mar and ECOBAS.
Alexandre and Jaime’s seminar entitled “The details matter: the case of Small-Scale Fisheries in Galicia” will cover their ongoing research at the Technical Unit of Artisanal Fisheries (UTPB). At UTPB they run a monitoring fishery-dependent program designed in collaboration with the regional government and several fishers’ associations (‘cofradías’) to aid in the development of exploitation plans of fisheries distributed along the Galician coast. Alexandre’s research at IIM-CSIC specializes in Galician artisanal fisheries and their integrated management while Jaime is a fisheries oceanographer, currently working on his postdoctoral research at IIM-CSIC.
The full seminar announcement and the talk’s abstract can be found here.
We look forward to an inspiring talk and discussion at Seminar Room 06 of the School of Economics of the University of Vigo!
