Visiting the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3)

CLOCK project coordination meeting and working with Iratxe at BC3

22/05/2017 -

Last week part of future oceans team had a series of meetings in Bilbao at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). Elena´s former institution and Iratxe’s current research headquarter is a Basque Excellence Research Centre (BERC) that has been doing international research on climate change adaptation and mitigation from 2009. The center hosts more than 30 researchers with a rich variety of backgrounds and expertise that covers interdisciplinary research. Former director Anil Markandya is an advisor of CLOCK project, the ERC Staring grant that future oceans lab is holding for the next 5 years.

During our visit we have talked to BC3 researchers, including Marta Pascual, to coordinate the joint collaboration between FOL and BC3. We  also had meetings with experts in tropical tuna fisheries to advance in Iratxe´s PhD tackling impacts and adaptation in this industrial fishery.
