PhD student Iratxe Rubio visits us
This February, Iratxe Rubio visited us to participate in a series of activities to share research projects and technical skills in the lab. She presented her PhD project, together with Diego and Alba, as well as Elena that presented her Master Thesis project. Iratxe’s work is on assessing climate change impacts and adaptation on international tuna fisheries for Basque Country fishermen. This is possible thanks to a partnership of the CLOCK ERC project with the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3).
Iratxe also participated with the rest of the lab in the R seminar organised by the Fisheries Ecology group at the CSIC Marine Research Institute IIM. She also had the chance to have a first hand experience of Galician fisheries management resources travelling with the team to the oldest guild in Spain, and having meetings with government biologists. The aim of the visit was to have a first view on how managers are adapting fisheries to the range of impacts happening to Galician fisheries, including climate change, as this is one of our main research lines.
It was a really enriching stay plenty of learning which permitted the team progressing in its knowledge for ongoing research on Climate Change.
